Author: Butler Hagains 12/27/2010

December 27, 2010The European stock market ticked higher on Friday, 24th December, 2010 even amidst thin global trading. The holiday-thinned stock trade does not seem to have affected European shares since the FTEU3 index of greatest European shares closed at 0.2% higher to end at 1,147.49 points on the eve of Christmas.

European shares have climbed a 27 months rise and have risen by 9.7% in 2010. The FTEU 300 index has risen by 7.6% in the month of December, there by accounting for the finest monthly performance ever since July, 2009. The FTEU 300 trading accounted just 65% of the 90 days average daily.

The chief marketing strategist for IG index, Mr. David Jones said that before the end of 2010, he sees a strong potential for substantial future gains. There is a lot to look ahead of this holiday break, he asserted.

He also however added that the beginning of 2011 could also mean an entirely different story. The past trends show that January has always been a very hard time for trading in stock markets. David thinks that January, 2011 may be no different.

Trading has been going thin lately on account of Christmas break. Most of the global stock markets including that of Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Spain are closed.

The zealous traders are waiting for the holiday break to get over and find out what the year-end has in store for them. The polls show that investors are inclined towards entering 2011 in a somewhat bullish mood thereby causing equity holdings to reach a 10 months high.
